Misaki Kanade
TENKAI, pureblood
FEMALE
TWENTY-FIVE
HETEROSEXUAL
FACULTY
DECEMBER TWENTY-FOURTH
ELEMENTAL
APPEARANCE
Misaki possesses the ethereal beauty her race is known for. She is no exception from her aristocratic lineage, possessing delicate features and high cheekbones, as well as the presence that is sure to turn heads the moment she enters the room. Her most distinct are her eyes, a vibrant aquamarine that seem to glow on occasion when affected by her powers.
Her hair is a distinctive teal in colour which she generally keeps at waist-length. She used to grow it even longer, but over the years became tired of washing and caring for it. She has been known on the occasion to cut her hair short on the impulse, but her hair tends to grow quite quickly. She generally prefers to style her hair into twin-tails, but when she has the time has also experimented with more complex styles.
Petite and slender, Misaki stands at the reasonable height of 5’2”. An avid fashionista, her clothing style is always on trend and appropriate for the occasion. She has been known to carry candy somewhere on her person at all times to fuel her addiction.

PERSONALITY
MAIN POWER: Wind Elemental
SECOND HAND ABILITIES: Telekinesis & Empathy
• SKILLS: As a pureblood Tenkai, Misaki possesses the power of Wind and Telekinesis. She is well-trained in both, leaning more towards defensive abilities rather than offensive. Against a trained fighter, she is physically weaker than most and would over rely on her powers to escape harm, making her easy to overpower if one can get through her defences.
• TALENTS: Misaki is a gifted music prodigy and known for her talent in the Tenkai Realm. She is most known for her voice accompanied with her piano skills. She is also expertly proficient with the guitar, violin, harp and flute; and it doesn’t take her long to pick up other musical instruments.
• PERSONALITY: Like most music prodigies, Misaki is a tad eccentric. How she acts is proportional to the amount of sugar she eats. Sometimes she appears refreshed and energetic, unable to remain still for long periods of time without the urge to bounce off the walls. Other times she may be tired and grumpy. Nevertheless no matter what her mood she is always passionate about her craft, her love for it almost contagious. She can be a bit crazy and spontaneous, unpredictable at best with an unquenchable curiosity that often lands her in a position difficult to get herself out of.
She has a habit of picking up strays, she has a soft spot for those in need. Misaki is usually one to give someone the benefit of the doubt upon the first meeting, a somewhat naïve concept, but she chooses to believe in it whole-heartedly. After all, what did she have left if not for her beliefs? Misaki is just one of those people whom would try to befriend the enemy.
She is an enigma at times, sometimes voicing insights and advice which demonstrates a part of her more jaded side and contrasts vividly with how she usually acts. It’s not often one would find her in her quieter moments, that she tends to keep to herself as much as possible. Left alone to stew in her thoughts for too long can often lead to rash decisions or conclusions which only serve to worsen her state. What she fears the most is the ones she loves leaving her behind.
She does have a mean streak as well, having been declared a closet sadist at times especially to those who rub her the wrong way. Brutally honest, Misaki doesn't try too hard to hide her thoughts and she seems to enjoy setting difficult tasks for her students to accomplish, holding their grades hostage (she would never sabotage a student’s grade… they just don’t know that).
• RELATIONSHIPS & LOVE: Misaki treasures each and every one of her friendships she has cultivated over the years. Her closest relationships tend to be those she’s picked up in their time of needs, allowing her in turn to also lean on them when she is in crisis. She’s a little less crazy, but no less cheerful when around her loved ones. She would trust them with her life.
Misaki has only been in one romantic relationship previously, having been lucky enough to find love in her childhood best friend. She was devastated when news of his demise reached her, and she’s still hurting from his loss as they didn’t party on the most friendly of terms. Shiki is a chapter of her life that she has finally managed to close the door on after she met Kei Sinclair. Through their shared trauma of losing their first loves, Misaki has finally started opening herself up to the possibility of letting someone in again. The very same person who helped her learn to accept and move on from Shiki’s passing.

HISTORY
Misaki was born with music running in her veins. Both of her parents, Sakura and Seiichi Kanade, were musically talented and well known by their own right in the Tenkai realm. Needless to say, it was expected that their daughter would follow their footsteps eventually and already it seemed that she would be forever doomed to live in her parents’ shadows. Her parents both came from prestigious families and were heavily involved in the Tenkai government.
Despite expectations, Misaki grew up normally without touching a musical instrument of any sorts – well as normally as a trouble magnet could live. Her parents were disappointed, but put it off as her lack of interest in the area. The truth was, she was interested, but she just preferred to listen to the beautiful music being created rather than botch it up with her own rendition so she took to playing and teaching herself in private the moment someone took their eyes off her and were out of hearing range. She was only four when she started these self-taught lessons and she learnt by playing by ear rather than off sheet music.
Her secret was outed when she was six, by a young boy named Shiki Kurosaki. She had snuck into the music room in order to play some music, not expecting Shiki to walk in on her playing. She was afraid at being laughed at and had tried to run, but Shiki stopped her before she managed to escape the room, complimenting her on her playing. She had been surprised at first, but after assurances that he was not lying, she decided to stay and play some more pieces at his request. That day, the beginnings of a beautiful friendship began.
It wasn’t long before Shiki and Misaki became good friends, practically attached at the hip. He tried to persuade her to reveal her talents, but the girl stubbornly refused time after time. Shiki didn’t give up, however, he was just as stubborn as Misaki and surprisingly patient (as one would have to be to put up with the trouble she often found herself in). He had to resort to tricks in the end, her parents shocked when they stumbled upon Misaki singing to herself as she played the piano. They immediately raised a fuss, overjoyed that she did indeed share the same passion for music that they had. Misaki was cranky at him at first, but she couldn’t resist his kicked-puppy looks for long and eventually forgave him.
After the revelation of their daughter’s music ability, her parents hired music tutors for her. Even with the high expectations, Misaki was able to exceed them by far as her talent bloomed and blossomed, somehow managing to pull herself out of her parents’ shadows at the same time.
Time passed, and before she knew it Misaki was sixteen. Shiki, seventeen. With the close relationship they shared over the years, it was only inevitable that they would fall in love. And fall they did. Shiki confessed on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Misaki accepting his feelings with jubilant joy. If Misaki and Shiki were considered close before, they were now inseparable as they gained their wings. She had never been happier in her life, with the man she loved by her side and her continuously growing talent with music, she was content.
It wasn’t to last, however. Their world started mysteriously falling apart and out of concern for her well-being, Shiki was forced to persuade her to leave before things went from bad to worse. Misaki was stubborn, however, refusing to leave him and her family behind, especially with the involvement with the Tenkai government. She refused to leave without him, but Shiki had to remain to take care of some business. Knowing how tricky he could be, Misaki was prepared for anything he threw at her. Well, just about everything. She wasn’t prepared for him to suddenly turn around and tell her that he didn’t want to be with her anymore, that he wanted to break up. Anguished, she reacted badly and Shiki was able to sedate her before handing her to her family.
When Misaki came too, she discovered she was no longer in her own world. She was confused and distressed about his ‘break-up’, but she noticed she still had her wings. Apparently for all his words, Shiki still loved her dearly and couldn’t bear to let her go. She was relieved at this revelation, her feelings for him still strong despite the hurt he had caused her. Misaki adapted fairly well to their new home, offering music lessons and performing at music gigs. It was the tutoring which allowed her to discover her love for teaching. Her students adored her, and all agreed she was a good teacher despite the homework tasks she liked to set.
Six months later, she was surprised at the sudden influx of Tenkais arriving in Shunojiski. When news of the destruction of their world reached her ears, Misaki immediately started searching for Shiki with little success. And then came that fateful day when her wings disappeared suddenly without a trace. Panicked, that could only mean that either Shiki was dead… or he had finally let her go. She fell depressed for a while before some worried friends tried to drag her out of it, convincing her to apply for a job at Shunojiski. She received the post as the Music teacher and was immediately forced into the classroom in the last few weeks of semester. It was a big wake-up call for Misaki, realising that no matter what happened to Shiki, she had to keep living and move on.
