KAIYA RYUZAKI
TENKAI, pureblood
FEMALE
EIGHTEEN
PANSEXUAL
ELEMENTAL GUARDIAN
JUNE FIRST
ICE ELEMENTAL
APPEARANCE
Her eyes are her most striking feature, with crystal blue irises that seem to sparkle when expressing feelings of joy and happiness. Her hair is a pretty shade of sakura pink and is her pride and joy. Waist-length and flowing, it gives off the impression of being wind-tousled with her shorter bangs framing her face delicately.
Willowy and slender at 5’5”, she strikes a striking figure. Her skin tone is relatively pale with a healthy tinge of pink and practically flawless except for the snowflake marking on the inside of her right wrist symbolising the ice element she is charged with watching over. She also possesses a great deal of flexibility.
While not too fussed about what she wear, Kaiya does prefer wearing dresses and skirts as opposed to simple jeans. Her wardrobe consists of a myriad of colours along with a vast amount of accessories to go with each outfit. She is particularly fond of her hair accessories and colourful belts. As for shoes, well, she wears anything ranging from simple sandals to sneakers to high heels and boots.
The ice elemental heirloom is a crystal sword dubbed Glacies. The sword only appears when summoned, materialising in her hand starting from the hilt as a crystal that would slowly lengthen until it forms its true shape. There is a separate blue gem which sits where the hilt and blade meets. When activated, the sword itself would glow an iridescent white, and the gem glows blue. Only Kaiya is able to wield the blade in this state, anyone who tries to take the sword from her would not be able to withstand the coldness of the blade, even if they are a fellow ice user. The ice crystals are able to withstand heavy impact, and upon prolonged contact will begin to crystallise and form ice shards which spread in area the longer the contact is maintained.
While inherently weak against the fire element, the blade itself is able to withstand the fiery temperatures, but is less effective.
Sho is the ice guardian sprite. A muscular white dragon with blue eyes and small spikes going down his spine, Sho’s personality is similar to that of his master’s though with extra snark. Oftentimes if Kaiya seems unresponsive to the world around her, it is because she is busy arguing with him in her mind. Despite this, she considers him the closest being to her and is fiercely protective of Sho. They both share a love of heights, and sometimes can be found enjoying cliffsides and taking flight in the skies together. When in his physical form, he enjoys sitting on her shoulder or hovering somewhere closeby.
Instead of fire, his breath starts of as wind which then crystallises into ice shards to complement Kaiya’s abilities. With him in the air and Kaiya on the ground, they can trap their opponent with the use of ice glaciers, leaving them nowhere to run. Despite his muscular appearance, Sho is a surprisingly fast flier, thanks countless hours of practice with Kaiya.

PERSONALITY
MAIN POWERS: Ice Elemental & Wind
SECOND HAND ABILITIES: Invisibility & Elemental Mixture
PERSONALITY: Kaiya is a free-spirit unrestricted by the rules of society. She doesn’t care what others think of her, happy to do as she so pleases. She operates by the principle of living in the moment, hence why she enjoys photographing so much which is all about the ‘then and there’. She tries not to leave behind any regrets, hence pursuing her goals with enthusiasm and giving her all.
Kaiya is a fairly simple girl, content with what she has and rarely does she ask for more, unless it’s something to satisfy her wanderlust. Having spent a lot of her childhood before gaining her wings travelling often, she finds herself unable to stay in the one place for too long, allowing her legs to take her where they so please. With a very curious nature, she can usually be found outdoors exploring the landscape and admiring the views both with her own eyes and through the lenses of a camera. She likes to be in high places as well, often climbing trees or cliffs just to achieve this goal – a trait which has given her parents plenty of heart attacks when she was younger. She could very well be accused as an adrenaline junkie with some of the stunts she has pulled for the sake of her exploring, something which has only gotten worse ever since she’s gained her wings. Adding to that, it should be noted that she should never be told what not to do because she will do it out of curiosity and learn for herself why doing it is such a bad idea. She is certainly not the most logical person around.
She is a bit socially awkward and shy. She doesn’t do well with strangers, stumbling over her words and becoming quickly flustered when she tries to talk to them. When she becomes really nervous, she tends to blurt out whatever’s on her mind followed up by a rushed apology. Kaiya tries to make up for it with her enthusiasm, but sometimes that might make her seem even more embarrassed. It takes her a while to fully relax around someone new. What friends she does make, she tries to keep by her side as long as possible. She is always there to encourage her friends in their endeavours, cheering on the sidelines a tad bit... too enthusiastically. Kaiya’s the type who would jump in and drag the runner over the finish line if she has to. She just plainly believes in never giving up.
FRIENDSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS: True to her guardian nature, she’s strong-willed and takes her role rather seriously when needed. Her shy nature fades when she’s trying to defend something she believes strongly in (albeit with a few stutters). Fiercely protective of those close to her, Kaiya will move mountains if it means the safety of her loved ones. She won’t let anyone hurt them, no matter the cost to herself.
She hasn’t had much opportunity to explore this aspect of life, having spent the majority of her life training for her duties. She is curious to find out what is like to be in a relationship. As a photographer, she likes to admire beauty when she comes across them and has shown interest in both genders but never has she acted upon her feelings.

HISTORY
Seiya Fujihara and Ichigo Ryuzaki were kindred spirits drawn together by their beloved occupation; archaeology. Both were leading experts in their field and so it was quite the surprise that neither of them had even caught a glimpse each other before their fated encounter. They met not in Shunojiski nor the Tenkai realm, but rather during opposing archaeology expeditions on Earth in the ruins of the ancient civilization of Egypt. It was love at first sight, and as they say, the rest was history.
Kaiya was the result of their consummated relationship. Born with the ice element symbol marking her right wrist, her parents knew she was destined for something special even before they saw the symbol. This realisation was accompanied with a sinking feeling, there was no way they were going to be allowed to keep their precious child for long – not if the Council had anything to do with it. Ichigo and Seiya were right, of course, the moment the Council caught wind of Kaiya’s special mark, they wanted to take her away from them. With their occupations it was deemed unsafe for her to remain with them due to the amount of travelling they did, rarely staying in one spot for long. The Council was quite reluctant to allow the future ice guardian to live in such unpredictable conditions. Who knows what could happen. Her parents were determined however, eager to spend as much time with their daughter as they could before they had to give her up. They argued long and hard with the Council members and eventually won the argument, citing that they would protect their little one with their lives – not that it wasn’t a given anyway.
Kaiya had to be one of the most pampered babies around, her parents absolutely adored her and with no work to do – they had taken a yearlong hiatus from work – all their attention was focused on raising her. Her first travelling experience was at the tender age of four months old when her parents brought her down to Earth in order to meet her grandparents on Seiya’s side of the family. While a relatively uneventful trip except for Ichigo’s insistence that Kaiya’s first word was ‘dada’ to which no one believed him, it would be the first of many more travelling experiences to come.
It quickly became apparent that Kaiya had inherited her parents love for travelling and exploring. The moment she learned how to crawl, she was already creating hassle for her parents as she would turn up in the most unlikely of places after randomly disappearing. Her parents didn’t mind too much, other than the fact that it made keeping track of her a lot harder became a lot harder than necessary. Ichigo and Seiya didn’t anticipate just how difficult it would be to keep track of her when the toddler figured out how to walk.
Kaiya spent her early years mostly in Shunojiski and on Earth, accompanying her parents while they went on their various archaeological expeditions. They tried many times to convince the young girl that it was safer to remain with her grandparents while they went away, but Kaiya was adamant to remain with them when they went on their explorations. It was inconvenient at first, but her parents eventually adjusted to having a child with them all the time. It wasn’t like Kaiya was difficult to please either, unlike other children she didn’t demand attention or the latest toys, so long as she was able to spend her time curiously exploring, she was happy and content.
Unfortunately, Kaiya decided to become bolder and bolder in her exploring, eventually leading her to perform a various of stunts which left Ichigo and Seiya with more grey hairs than they had started with. She would climb trees overhanging wildly rushing rivers just for the sake of catching a closer glimpse of a bird’s nest she had spotted from down below; slide down valleys just to see what was at the bottom; or climb up cliffs for a better view. And that was just naming a few. It was amazing she had managed to escape with only minor scratches and bruises from her endeavours along with a furious scolding which she hardly paid attention to.
Her luck wouldn’t last forever though.
She was five at the time of this particular incident, young and daring, she was now almost impossible to contain. They were in the middle of a valley at the time with tall and practically vertical rock faces on either side of them, and of course that was just asking for trouble. With her parents out on another excavation, Kaiya was left to her own devices in the campsite. She spotted an injured bird high up on the cliff face with no way to get down and made up her decision almost instantly, she was going to rescue the poor thing. Common sense wasn’t something which occurred to her as she proceeded up the steep incline. It was difficult, but sheer willpower allowed her to reach the ledge where the bird was in the end. The battle was only half-won.
On her way down, her parents had seen her and their cries startled the poor girl. Losing her grip, she slipped and started to fall. Seiya and Ichigo could only watch on in horror. There would have been no hope for her had it not been that moment that her wings revealed themselves. With them, she was able to slow her descent enough for Ichigo to safely catch her. Her parents were too relieved to even bother lecturing her on her reckless behaviour, realising only afterwards that she had gained their wings. They had forgotten all about her guardian duties, even though they had known this day was coming soon. She would spend another few years with her parents before they brought her back to the Tenkai realm to begin her training at age eight when her powers started to show.
Upon returning to the Tenkai realm, Kaiya was confused as to why her parents were planning on leaving her there. Seiya and Ichigo were more than reluctant to part with their daughter, but they left her in the Council’s hands to explain what was going on.
She was assigned to a mentor, a Nephilim ice master by the name of Takeshi. Initially shy around him, Kaiya was still upset at being separated so suddenly from her parents. She blamed her newly acquired powers, understanding that if they hadn’t appeared, she would still be with her parents. It took her a while to reconcile with the fact and eventually open up to him, looking up to him for guidance. Takeshi was a good teacher for her, patient yet strict at the same time. He would make sure that she actually paid attention to her lessons instead of wandering off, drilling in the importance of her future duties – something which the Council had neglected to explain properly.
Kaiya was a diligent student when she concentrated on the task at hand, her natural affinity with the ice element helped her master the basics at a relatively young age. It was only then would Takeshi allow her to gain access to her heirloom, Glacies. Her Cerra was summoned immediately upon contact with the sword and what she didn’t expect was for the small baby dragon to immediately try to take off before she could even talk to it. Already, similarities between master and sprite could already be seen. The dragon was immediately dubbed ‘Sho’ without much thought and it was love at first sight for Kaiya.
… Only for her to fall out of love some time later.
While indeed Sho shared many personality traits with Kaiya, they were too similar to coexist in harmony. Possessing the same wandering soul, she could often be found bickering with Sho about which direction they should explore. She still adored her little companion of course, but spending long periods of time with her Cerra usually led to frayed tempers and a moody Kaiya.
It took her eight long, gruelling years before Takeshi deemed her able to continue training on her own without his guidance and to develop her own style of fighting. He would check up on her every now and then of course, but from there, she would have to learn how to fully master the ice element and her heirloom on her own. She struggled at first but with Sho’s help, they figured how to utilise her guardian powers to her advantage.
Completing her training at the age of seventeen, she ventured off immediately, eager to see how the world had change in her long years of absence. Discovering her plans, Takeshi insisted on accompanying her because obviously the carefree girl wouldn’t know how to look after herself in the big bad world. He was the one whom introduced her to the concept of the camera, teaching her how to use it in order to capture the new sights and things she had seen. At first, Kaiya used the camera as a mere tool to help her figure her way around the strange land of Shunojiski, but she eventually grew to love photography and all the lovely scenes she could capture with it. Wherever Kaiya went, so would her beloved camera. They were inseparable.
Kaiya and Takeshi eventually parted ways once he was certain she was able to look after herself, and she went on to continue her explorations of Shunojiski along with Earth. Occasionally she would return to the guardian gates before quickly taking off again. It would be not too long after that when she was assigned her first charge, an unusual occurrence for an Elemental Guardian. This was a special case, however, as it turned out that her charge was a Guardian Tenkai who had turned to a life of crime after tragedies in their life early on and had only escalated after she lost her home in the Tenkai realm as well. Yui Ayuzawa was a troubled woman, turning her back on her responsibilities and on the verge of falling if not for council intervention.
Feeling woefully unequipped to help her charge, the first thing Kaiya did was to try and befriend her. As Yui was a guardian, she would have easily recognised ‘divine intervention’ when she saw it, and Kaiya figured that a more direct approach would be best. Despite a few failed attempts at this, she persisted in helping Yui by showing up when she least expected it, and often getting caught up in the trouble which surrounded her, resulting in the older Tenkai having to rescue her from the trouble. This only solidified Kaiya’s suspicions that she was not that far gone and still capable of doing good, making her all the more persistent.
Exasperated by her recklessness, Yui eventually gave in and allowed this strange friendship to occur, Kaiya’s naivety amusing her greatly so and also reminding her of her younger sister. (Plus with the amount of trouble Kaiya ended up in for a guardian, she figured it didn’t hurt to stick around).
In the end, they weren’t sure who ended up saving who, with Yui taking her under her wing and giving her back her sense of purpose she had lost when the realm had fallen, taking her younger sister with her. Or Kaiya who had been thrown into this situation without the usual guardian training and expected to succeed. While Yui did not end up returning to her guardian duties, she chose to remain in Shunojiski to live a crime-free life and the two remained good friends.

Or Kaiya who had been thrown into this situation without the usual guardian training and expected to succeed. While Yui did not end up returning to her guardian duties, she chose to remain in Shunojiski to live a crime-free life and the two remained good friends.
